TESLA TRUCK
Elon Musk revealed the new cybertruck :
0-60 in 2.9 seconds
Base price 40k USD
Over 500 miles of range
Despite everyone on twitter claiming it looks like a 3rd grade drawing, I think it looks clean and fits the upper class blade runner aesthetic. With all the mixed emotions I was wondering what you guys think of it.
If people buy this, it will prove that they do not actually need a truck.
95% of people who drive trucks don’t actually need them, it’s a weird American status symbol
That is true, which was sort of my point (nobody wants to admit it). But the reason that the 95% buy them is because that status embodies the hard working, American values that Ford and the like portray with their brands. Not because they want to be the Blade Runner techno cyber truck driver.
The only sex symbol I need:
https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/a3b38p/house-with-sex-dungeon-real-e…
lol yea in my high school is was definitely a "I have a huge dick status symbol"
It looks stupid, but most of the design seems purposeful, not just all aesthetic. People will buy it.
Window broken. Plz fix.
Thx
I don't really love the look of it but I understand how some people will. I don't see it overtaking the current lineup of trucks most people use.
They could have done a LOT better with the styling. Personally, I think the Model S looks fantastic. Not Aston Martin DB5 fantastic, but still good. This looks like they're trying too hard. Model 3 is not bad, same with Model X. This looks like garbage.
I honestly hate the styling of Teslas in general. I'm kind of glad this looks nothing like the boring designs of typical Teslas.
What's the best looking car in your opinion? Just curious.
I think the Lamborghini Miura is up there, along with the Jag E Type convertible. For more modern cars that aren't hypercars, it's hard to determine. I really like the Model S styling. I think the Porsche 911 is hard to beat.
out here lookin like PS2 graphics Hagrid
Come on, man. You posted 1/4 of the meme
Gang wars in Chicago just got a little more interesting.
The 69k model tows 14,000 pounds. That’s TWICE as much as your base F150. Definitely still useful in a work setting.
Thats merely a fraud-boy claim. Just like his other claims, most of the time they have no real footing.
Due to the upwards slope of the bed, itd be impossible to reach the front 2/3s of the bed. I probably shouldn't be commenting on the practicality to a blue-collar work for obvious reason though.
The F250 tows 15,000 pounds, at a cheaper price point.
Yeah, so pretty sure the same metal used for a spaceship is not going to crack under daily earth-based pressure.
The truck demo was a smashing success, LOL.
Aesthetically, it does zilch for me, but then I'm more of a die-hard American muscle car sort Charger, Mustang, Chevelle, Nova, Challenger, etc.
can't wait to finally live out my dream of being in IB by day and Master chiefby night
I fucking love this brutalist design honestly. For those out there who say no one will buy this, they will buy F150s, they don’t understand why people buy hugeass trucks in the first place. 95% of truck flatbeds are empty aka the person driving does not need this huge truck. The people who use trucks for work might not buy this, but the people who want to show off/overcompensate for a tiny peen/satisfy their midlife crisis (aka most truck buyers) will. Truck buyers (except those who actually use them for work) and Tesla buyers both don’t NEED these crazy vehicles, but they want to flex on others, especially California and tech bros. Also, the pricing is competitive - people already spend $60k+ on a truck, why not spend that much and get a truck that goes 0 - 60 in 2.9 seconds, and has a larger range than any other Tesla vehicle. Short Tesla’s crazy financials, but long this truck.
Living in Austin taught me that some parts of the country are absolutely overflowing with these kinds of people. Some of the most rugged accountants, lawyers and financial advisors the world has ever known. This truck should go nicely paired with an Orvis jacket and a Yeti cooler.
Is it just a texas thing to drive a pickup truck and work a white collar job?
I get your point but Orvis and Yeti are legit.
This is the only vehicle I have considered buying new. At 14,000LBS, it would be the most towing capacity in it's class. Smoking almost every streetcar on the track at probably low 11's in the quarter mile. 500M is as much as I'll ever drive in a day. Stainless steel and functionality over aesthetic for the ultimate fuck you. $40K for base model is an insane price point (Rivian RT1 is priced at $70K base). I can see myself at 200K miles on the chassis and just slapping in a new battery + hardware upgrades for another 200K + autonomous driving.
What do you tow that is 14,000 lbs?
my ballsack
All the non targets tryin to be like me
Just wait, the Tesla Yacht is next...
"upper class blade runner aesthetic" what a time to be alive
lmao yeah i know i would get roasted for that but i think the back of the tesla is similar to the back of Ryan Gosling's car in blade runner 2049
Blade Runner and the sequel are both fantastic movies. No roasting here.
This car fucks. It's the Hublot of cars, only being future forward in cars makes sense.
Shut up and take my money!
THANK YOU, I fucking love it so much
Yeah, I like this car too.
Good luck when the battery catches on fire and burns down your garage / or tsla's beta autopilot software doesnt work and drives you into oncoming traffic
https://www.latimes.com/business/story/2019-11-01/federal-safety-agency…
https://www.tesladeaths.com/
So according to tesladeaths.com (and extrapolating out the last 8 months), Tesla's have driven on autopilot for over 2 billion miles. To put that in perspective, that is 20 times the distance to the Sun.
In those 2 billion miles, 4 deaths have been confirmed to be the responsibility of the autopilot system. Only 2 deaths have occurred since mid-2016. That means there is 1 death per 500MM miles driven under autopilot.
In 2016 there was 1 death per 80MM miles driven of regular vehicles under driver control.
Statistically speaking, you're 6.25x safer in a Tesla driving under autopilot control than driving in a normal car. Not bad for a beta software that is constantly improving.
I too hate Elon. Whatever happened with the Roadster anyways? Thousands of preorders and no news, although I am curious if those who preordered have gotten news.
tesla article posted on WSO
FUCK ELON HIS CARS HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE, BATTERIES DON'T HAVE THE RANGE OF GAS WHEN TOWING, CAR LOOKS LIKE A ROBOT CLIT
ELON IS A GOD HOW DARE YOU MOCK HIM WINDOWS AREN'T MEANT FOR WHAT THEY TESTED AND ITS MORE FUNCTIONAL THAN ANYTHING DRIVEN TODAY
sips tea
y'all care way too much about what other people drive. you don't like 'em? short the stock. you like 'em? buy the product
Regarding the windows, any other car door window would have shattered. So yeah, definitely embarrassing, but the window definitely didn't shatter.
that’s pretty hot ;P
LONG MOTHERFUCKIN TESLA
TSLAQ
This will be my midlife crisis vehicle.
Having taken a day or so to consider the cybertruck, I've got to say--I really don't like the design and I haven't been able to get used to it. I still think they'll sell a crazy number of these, but I don't think this particular truck model is going to put a dent in the truck market; I think non-truck people are going to be jumping into the fray for the novelty but I just don't see truck people turning in their F150 for the Tesla cybertruck. I hope Tesla makes a second truck model that is a bit less drastic, although still uniquely Tesla.
Maybe it's because I can't get over my disappointment that this is the one I wanted and what was delivered was nothing like it:
That is a single cab though, who drives single cab trucks anymore?
It’s just a drawing. Specifics could be modified.
holy hell, that is ugly as fuck. This one is definitely uglier than the real one.
This looks like a huge penis with a giant head. No? This is the most phallic car I've ever seen
That's because your mind is in the gutter.
I'm a little surprised with the 0-60 numbers that keep claiming at $40,000. The Lamborghini Aventador goes 0-60 in 2.9 or 2.7 in the SVJ Jota. I mean hey, if you want it, it looks weird in my opinion. Just wondering if it sound an alarm if someone decides to scratch it or if if can even be scratched with a key.
P.S Don't forget a Tesla in self drive mode crashed because it couldn't differentiate between a white semi truck and the sky. Also, seen people falling asleep while it is self driving on the highway, the car is autonomous. You are never suppose to take your hands off the wheel. I went to my local mall and there is a Tesla store, the sale persons was completely honest.
Huh? I don't understand these criticisms. The cybertruck's $70,000 model has the 0-60 2.9 second time, and your issue is that people are claiming the $40,000 model has it? So what? A gigantic truck that is $70k and does 0-60 in 2.9 seconds is amazing and is a fraction of the cost of a Lambo.
I also don't get the criticism of the self-drive function. It has gone hundreds of millions of miles (maybe billions now) with a few incidents. Again, so what? If anything, that's a testament to how good Tesla's self-drive mode is. Nice self-own though.
forreal
I love it, it's like living in Tron x Vice City.
Reminds me of Farcry 3 Blood Dragon dlc
The truck space is so competitive between Ford, GM, and Dodge that Tesla could see little to no sales in this particular segment. I laughed when the window cracked. Understanding consumer behavior and purchases is the irony of the reveal. Most truck drivers buy these big trucks and do not really need all that space. Half of the trucks aren't even used for the intended purpose. So I see why Tesla made this, but breaking into this market is pretty tough especially with a futuristic design.
As of yesterday Tesla apparently had 140,000 reservations, so even if a fraction of those come through to sales they are going to mint a lot of them. But to your point, I doubt they will convert many true "truck" guys. These are probably people like me who love the novelty.
It's the sort of synthwave aesthetic that I love. I want one!

That thing is ugly as shit. Looks like minion from twisted metal 2. Doesn't look like a real truck at all.
